Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (CSGD) “provides education, advocacy, support, mentoring, academic engagement, and space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, transsexual, intersex, questioning, queer and allied students, staff, and faculty” for Duke, Duke alumni/ae and the greater LGBTQ community. Programs and events include LGBT History Month, Pride events and festival, Coming Out Day @Duke, Transgender Day of Remembrance, World AIDS Day, Lavender Graduation, a series of faculty talks about sexuality research, and Kickback Fridays (weekly, 3-5pm)
Duke Health Sciences Gay-Straight Alliance is a SoM and SoN student led group of LGBTQ individuals and allies that aims to provide a supportive environment for “learning about the community and caring for LGBTQ patients”.
Women’s Center uses a feminist framework and guiding values of social justice, community, and change to improve the status of women in higher education at Duke through the provision of information, advocacy, technical assistance, referrals, and programs on a variety of gender-related issues. The Women’s Center offers a variety of programming, including Third Thursdays, a lunchtime feminist discussion series.
