I will be doing a Spine Surgery Fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

What were you looking for in a residency program?
Experts in all sub-specialties, camaraderie between the residents and attendings, and diverse research opportunities and support. 

What are your research and clinical interests at this time?
Predictive modeling of outcomes in spine surgery, biomechanics of interbody spacers and posterior spinal instrumentation constructs.

About Duke University and Durham

Where did you choose to live, and why?
East Durham/Northwest Raleigh. I am an outdoor enthusiast and I wanted to live close to Falls Lake State Park where there are 50+ miles of mountain biking trails.

What do you like to do outside of medicine?
Mountain biking, road cycling, home renovation.

Any other information you’d like people to know?
My wife Sonya is beginning her fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Duke next year. I will start Spine Fellowship after residency and we both plan on pursuing academic careers thereafter.
