Prospective Resident Applicants
Thank you so much for your interest in our program. We, like so many residency programs, are unable to accept visiting medical students at this time. Our faculty and residents love teaching and working with students. The visiting student program allows us to work with and educate students from around the country and it has been an integral part of our orthopaedic residency and medical student education. We will greatly miss working with our visiting students this year and are hopeful that the visiting program will be able to resume next year.
In addition to being a source of education, we know that many of you choose to rotate with us as a way to get to know our residents, faculty and the culture of Duke Orthopaedics to see if our program could be the right fit for you as you pursue a residency in orthopaedic surgery. We would like to offer you opportunities both to get to know us as a group and also to take part in our educational activities.
Go Inside Duke Orthopaedic Surgery Residency
Chief Resident Jordan Liles, MD, created the below video to give you an inside look at our residency program. You’ll hear from our chairman, current residents, and faculty about the program, discover why our rotations provide an excellent environment for hands-on learning and you will get an inside look into what makes our residency among the top-ranked programs in the country.
Tour Our Medical Campus
Check out our immersive virtual tour to help you discover why Duke’s facilities are among the best in the country.
Education is paramount at Duke and our residency curriculum includes a range of educational conferences that span the breadth of general orthopaedics and orthopaedic subspecialties. We would like to invite you to attend some of these conferences as a way to help broaden your orthopaedic education and also to let you experience a little of what it is like to be part of our program. Attendance is completely voluntary and based on your interest and availability, with the goal only to enhance your education and hopefully get you excited about potentially joining our program! By submitting your information in this survey link, we will share the links every Monday that will allow you to stream our Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning conferences as they occur:
- Tuesday Morning Faculty-Led CORE Conference (6:30 am – 7:15 am)
- Wednesday Morning Grand Rounds (6:30 am – 7:30 am)
- Thursday Morning Resident Led Fracture Conference (6:30 am – 7:15 am)
In addition to joining us at our virtual conferences, we’ve also uploaded some of our conferences and Grand Rounds presentations here so that you can view them at your convenience.
Join Us Virtually
We will be offering virtual social events between interested students and some of our faculty and residents so that you have an opportunity to get to know us and let us answer any questions you may have. If you are interested in attending one of these informal Q&A’s and receiving links to stream our conferences, please submit your contact information via this survey, and one of our residents will reach out within one week to connect you with a date that works for you.
We look forward to seeing you virtually for any of our lecture opportunities listed above! In the meantime, we encourage you to take a few minutes to watch this video which was created by our residents and highlights many of the unique aspects that make Duke Orthopaedics an exceptional place to train.
