We would like to recognize Dr. Edward Baldwin, PGY2, who participated in a recent Duke Orthopaedics Diversity and Inclusion event "Careers in Healthcare Panel Discussion." The event, which was held on October 13, 2018 at Duke North, provided several high school students in attendance the opportunity to learn about careers in the healthcare sector from administration to revenue managers to clinicians and surgeons. Dr. Baldwin represented a career in orthopedic surgery
The event was sponsored by 100 Black Men of the Triangle East, an organization devoted to improving the quality of life for African-Americans–particularly young males–through programs focusing on health and wellness, economic empowerment, mentoring and education.
According to one of the sponsors:
Dr. Baldwin did a great job on the panel. The kids were so into him and his story [of his journey to surgery].
Thank you to Dr. Baldwin for giving your time to engage with the community in this rewarding expereince.
If you are interested in participating in future Duke Orthopaedics Inclusion events, please contact our department Chair of Diversity, Erica Taylor, MD.
