Please join us in congratulating Dr. Erica Taylor on being named the PDC’s inaugural Associate Chief Medical Officer for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Dr. Taylor brings to this role a lifetime of experience, passion, and a proven track record as a leader for change. Dr. Taylor’s leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion in our department is vital in our efforts towards education, allyship, and advocacy for all voices to be heard. She is committed to creating an inclusive culture to allow diverse individuals to be afforded equitable opportunities for excellence in our department. I know that she will use her leadership, excellence, and experience to bring positive change in her new role in the PDC.
In the announcement this week, Dr. Taylor said “My unwavering dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion is not only the result of my own lived experiences as an African-American, female surgeon, wife, mother, leader, mentor, and perpetual learner, but is also inspired by the wonderful teams with which I have engaged during my time at Duke, I am moved by the overwhelming support the PDC has given toward the design and execution of strategic diversity efforts, particularly given the central impact the PDC has on the experiences of its members and employees. I am thrilled to serve in such a dynamic inaugural role that will work towards the culture of belonging and value we all desire.”
It is a great honor for Dr. Taylor to be the inaugural appointee to this position, and we are not only proud of her, but also that the PDC’s first Associate Chief Medical Officer for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is from Orthopaedics!
