Education: Xavier University, Medical School: University of Cincinnati, Residency: UNC-CH, Fellowship: R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland

Q: Where will your Orthopedics specialty advance in the next five years?
A: There will be much advancement in biological ways to deal with bone defects and hopefully better ways to prevent and treat infections.

Q: What excites you about your role at Duke?
A: I love the multidisciplinary work that is orthopaedic trauma. Working with the general surgery trauma team, plastics, infectious diseases, endocrinology, and other specialties is terrific.

Q: What brings you professional and personal joy?
A: I enjoy caring for people who have experienced traumatic events and working with them to return to their pre-injury function.

Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and five kids. We love to explore National Parks (24 and counting!). I also enjoy volunteering for my kids' school PTA and TABLE in Chapel Hill (delivering food to kids with food insecurity). I love to bake.
