Congratulations to Nurse Manager Heather Kelly, RN, BSN, for completing the Ironman World Championships race in Kona, HI, on Oct. 14.

Kelly, who works at the Duke Orthopaedics Arringdon Clinic, qualified for Kona at the Ironman Mont-Tremblant in Quebec, Canada, just seven weeks earlier. The Kona event was the inaugural all-women’s world championship and involved 2,500 women.

She conquered a 2.4-mile ocean swim, biked 112 miles through brutal heat and wind through the lava fields, and ran 26.2 miles through more lava fields. “To cross the finish line after dark and complete a lifelong dream of mine was amazing," she said.

Great job, Heather!
