Duke DPT Class of 2026 White Coat Ceremony Marks Transition to Clinical Training

On June 6, 2025, students from the Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Class of 2026 gathered at Duke Chapel for the program’s annual White Coat Ceremony. This event marks a crucial step in the students’ education as they prepare to enter clinical settings and apply their academic knowledge in real-world environments.

The ceremony featured a keynote address by Dr. Moyo B. Tillery, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, a 2011 Duke DPT alumna. Dr. Tillery, who currently serves as core faculty and Director of Admissions at Tufts DPT Boston, spoke about the evolving role of physical therapists and shared insights from her professional journey.

During the ceremony, each student received a white coat, symbolizing their readiness to begin clinical rotations and their commitment to patient care. The event was attended by faculty, family members, and peers, offering a moment of reflection and encouragement as students move forward in their training.

The White Coat Ceremony remains a meaningful tradition within the Duke DPT program, marking the transition from classroom learning to clinical practice.
