We welcome Dr. Paul Bruning, DHA, as our new Division Administrator for the Sports Medicine and Hand divisions. Paul brings a wealth of leadership experience, including his previous roles as Director of the Neuro Musculoskeletal Service Line at Sutter Health and Executive Director at the Orthopaedic Institute and Holy Cross Medical Group. With a strong track record of enhancing clinical processes, building relationships with patients and staff, and mentoring teams, Paul excels in leading initiatives that improve patient care while ensuring compliance with best practices. His expertise in managing projects on time and within budget from inception to completion will be invaluable to our ongoing success. We are excited to witness Paul's positive impact on our team and services.

Q: What brings you joy?
A: I enjoy fishing, golfing, sports, and a great bottle of red wine. Professionally, I find joy in healthcare policy, advocacy, and teaching—these areas lead to meaningful improvements that can truly benefit people's lives.
Q: What excites you about your role at Duke?
A: Joining such a prestigious organization within the Department of Orthopaedics, especially in sports medicine, is a dream come true. Having started my career as an athletic trainer working with athletes at all levels, this role perfectly combines my passions and experience. I'm excited about the opportunity to make a meaningful impact here.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I was born in Chicago, spent my elementary years in Philadelphia, and lived in Minnesota for about 20 years, which I consider home. I’ve also lived in Iowa, St. Louis, Tallahassee, Fort Lauderdale, the Sierra Mountains, San Francisco, and Durham.
