Blake Boggess, DO, Represents the U.S. Medical Team for the World University Games in Chengdu, China

The 31st Summer World University Games in Chengdu, China, were officially declared open by Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China, on July 28. Blake Boggess, DO, was among three U.S. doctors providing medical coverage for the American team. Dr. Boggess also organized a medical symposium to collaborate and discuss similarities and differences in Eastern and Western medicine.  

The Chengdu Games featured 18 sports – Archery, Artistic Gymnastics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Diving, Fencing, Judo, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Rowing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball, Water Polo, and Wushu – and 269 medal events over 13 days of competition from July 27- August 8.

The United States delegation of 340 athletes has a strong record of success in the World University Games, with over 1,354 medals.
