Duke Athletic Training Residency Program Celebrates Inaugural Graduates

Duke Athletic Training Residency Program

The Duke Athletic Training Residency Program recently celebrated a significant milestone with the graduation of its inaugural residents, Cynthia Kimler and Jacquelyn Walker.

After completing 13 months of intensive training, Kimler and Walker received their Certificates of Completion from the program, which achieved accreditation this year from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).

Throughout the residency, the graduates gained advanced clinical experience across multiple orthopaedic subspecialties, participating in operating room experiences, outpatient clinics and comprehensive didactic education. As the program's first residents, they also played a key role in helping establish and shape the residency program during its formative years.

Their contributions supported the program's successful pursuit of CAATE accreditation while helping lay the foundation for future residents.

Kimler and Walker completed the program prepared to practice as advanced athletic training specialists in orthopaedic care. The department congratulates both graduates on this achievement and looks forward to their continued impact on the profession and the patients they serve.
