Zani Named Surgeon Medical Director for Duke University Hospital

Sabino Zani, MD, FACS, associate professor of surgery in Duke's Division of Surgical Oncology, has been named surgeon medical director for Duke University Hospital. In the role, he will collaborate with surgical, perioperative and hospital leaders to advance operational excellence, quality, safety, innovation and the overall surgical experience for patients and care teams. Zani also will serve as Duke University Health System lead for robotic surgery, helping guide strategic growth, education and innovation across Duke's nationally recognized robotic surgery program. A nationally recognized surgeon-scientist and educator, Zani currently serves in multiple leadership roles across Duke, including director of the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Oncology Fellowship Program, chair of the DUH Robotic Committee and co-director of the Surgical Education and Activities Lab.
