For children from birth to early adulthood, the pediatric orthopaedic physicians and specialists at Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Center provide the highest quality treatment and care for a broad spectrum of congenital, developmental, and traumatic disorders affecting bones, soft tissues, joints, and the neuromuscular system.
The Pediatric Orthopaedics Section is led by Dr. Robert Lark and is highly ranked in U.S. News & World Report, and we are nationally recognized for our surgical and non-surgical treatment for even the most complex pediatric orthopaedic conditions.
We encourage the involvement of families in all aspects of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, answering any questions or addressing concerns you might have. We understand that your goal is to obtain the best care for your child—our goal is to guarantee that your child receives that care.

The Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship is in cooperation with UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. Fellows complete a six-month rotation at each hospital, providing them exposure to a broader range of clinical experience and hospital practices. Together, we perform roughly 2,000 procedures every year and cover all aspects of pediatric orthopaedics including spine, hip, sports, trauma, complex deformity, and tumor.

Patient Care
Our dedicated team of physicians and specialists understand the particular developmental needs of children and work together to ensure your child receives the comprehensive, individualized care they deserve. We provide surgical and non-surgical treatments for conditions such as scoliosis, club foot, leg length differences, orthopaedic tumors, fractures, and cerebral palsy. We also provide a multidisciplinary approach for the treatment and prevention of sports injuries. In addition to being safer, our use of lower-dose radiation x-rays for scoliosis, the EOS system—which takes front and side views at the same time—gives our physicians a better view of the spine.
