The annual William E. Garrett, Jr., MD, PhD, Sports Medicine Research Day event was held this week. It featured Thomas Best, MD, vice chair of research, professor of orthopaedics, and research director of Sports Performance and Wellness Institute, University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. He shared lessons learned from the sidelines and laboratory and discussed the changing paradigm of osteoarthritis.
Named after William E. Garrett, Jr., MD, PhD (1949-2019), who served at Duke University Medical Center for over 40 years, the event shares innovative sports medicine research expertise.
Presentations were provided by Duke Orthopaedic residents, fellows, and faculty members.
