Collaboration is at the heart of exceptional patient care at Duke Orthopaedics of Apex. The partnership between Madison Celentano, MBA, LAT, ATC, OPE-C, clinical program coordinator, and Dr. Scot Reeg, MD, clinical faculty, medical director, and spine surgeon at Duke Raleigh Hospital, exemplifies the value of teamwork in enhancing patient outcomes and supporting clinicians. Their combined expertise and dedication set a high standard for care and healing, benefiting both patients and the entire care team.
As an Athletic Trainer who transitioned into the hospital setting during the COVID pandemic, Celentano has found a renewed sense of purpose and fulfillment. "I was pulled away from working in athletics and into the hospital setting—and I never looked back. Today, I am more grateful than ever for the opportunity Duke gave me to work alongside such a fantastic team," says Celentano. "It’s been an incredible journey, and I’ve advanced from an Athletic Trainer to a Clinical Program Coordinator, all thanks to the mentorship of Dr. Reeg."
The most rewarding part of Celentano's job is witnessing her patients' full-circle progress as they navigate their surgical journeys. "I have the privilege of being with them every step of the way, helping them through the process, and seeing them achieve the quality of life they deserve," she shares. "It’s an honor to work alongside Dr. Reeg and learn from his 30+ years of expertise."
Dr. Reeg’s guidance and leadership have shaped Madison’s career and influenced her approach to patient care. "He’s been an incredible role model, constantly encouraging me to perform at my best and push boundaries," says Celentano. "As he always says, ‘real people, real problems,’ and that philosophy drives everything we do."
At Duke, the focus is always on the patient. Celentano and Dr. Reeg prioritize ensuring patients feel heard, supported, and empowered. Spine surgery can be daunting, but the team works tirelessly to make patients comfortable and confident.
"Every day, we strive to provide the highest level of care with compassion, empathy, and attention to detail," explains Celentano. "Our patients motivate us to give our very best, and the ability to help them heal and reclaim their lives is the greatest reward."
