Clinician's Corner: Kaylee Hogard, MBA, LAT, ATC

Advancing Patient Care and the Future of Athletic Training

Kaylee Hogard, MBA, LAT, ATC, brings a unique combination of clinical expertise and leadership to Duke Orthopaedics, where she serves as Athletic Training Residency Program Director and practices as an athletic trainer within the Adult Reconstruction division at Duke Orthopaedics Arringdon. Since joining Duke in May 2024, Hogard has played a key role in advancing patient care while strengthening the visibility, structure, and impact of athletic training within the physician practice setting.

In her dual role, Hogard leads curriculum development, mentorship, and clinical training for the Duke Orthopaedic Athletic Training Residency while continuing to work directly alongside orthopaedic providers in clinic, operating room, and ambulatory environments. Her collaborative approach spans multiple orthopaedic subspecialties, helping build stronger connections across the health system and supporting a coordinated, team-based approach to care.

Hogard is also actively engaged at the national level through organizations such as the Athletic Trainers in Physician Practice Society, bringing best practices and fresh insights back to Duke. Passionate about education and advocacy, she is committed to increasing awareness of the essential role athletic trainers play in patient care—combining clinical skill, efficiency, and hands-on support to enhance the patient experience.

“Athletic trainers bring a unique blend of clinical expertise, efficiency, and patient-centered care to the orthopaedic team—and helping people understand that impact is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.”
