Tiffany Adams, PT, DPT, MBA, PhD, Receives Distinguished Alumnx Award

On December 11, 2024, Tiffany Adams, PT, DPT, MBA, PhD, director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and assistant professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Division, was awarded the prestigious Distinguished Alumnx Award by the Elon University Department of Physical Therapy Education. The award was presented during the Class of 2024 Graduation Celebration and Awards Ceremony, marking a significant milestone in Dr. Adams’s career and the program's history, celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year.

The Distinguished Alumnx Award is presented to graduates with outstanding achievements, strong character, and exemplary citizenship—qualities that inspire and motivate physical therapists and students alike. With more than 10 years of experience in the field, Dr. Adams’s contributions to the profession of physical therapy, her local community, and society have been nothing short of transformative.

Dr. Adams’s work in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in healthcare and education has set a new standard for being a leader in physical therapy. As Director of DEI at Duke University School of Medicine, she has been instrumental in fostering an inclusive learning environment that reflects the diverse world in which we live. Her leadership has extended beyond the classroom, impacting research, clinical practice, and the development of new initiatives that seek to eliminate barriers to care for underserved populations.

In addition to her work in DEI, Dr. Adams’s academic and professional journey is a testament to her dedication to advancing physical therapy.
