Brett Rocos, MD, Receives the Duke Emergency Response Medal by the Code Team

Assistant Professor Brett Rocos, MD, BSc (Hons), MB, ChB, FRCS (Tr & Orth), a member of the Division of Spine Surgery at Duke Orthopaedic Surgery, has received an award recognizing healthcare providers who exemplify the core values of the Duke LifeFlight Code Team during emergency responses. The honor highlights qualities such as teamwork, integrity, broad clinical experience, excellence, and safety. This award may be granted to professionals from any discipline within Duke Health.

In receiving the award, providers must exemplify the values listed above in an emergency response situation/ code beyond that expected in their position. 

Dr. Rocos shared, “I was on clinic duty when a patient from another provider sustained a rapid, critical hemorrhage in the outpatient area. I was part of the team that delivered the rapid response to a successful conclusion in a confined space outside a critical care area.”
