This week, we celebrate National Nurse Practitioner (NP) Week—this talented core of clinicians partner with us to deliver high-quality orthopaedic healthcare.
NPs provide primary, acute, and specialty health care to patients of all ages and walks of life. Tasks include seeing patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, making diagnoses, and initiating and managing treatment plans — including prescribing medications.
As clinicians who blend clinical expertise in diagnosing and treating health conditions with an added emphasis on disease prevention and health management, NPs bring a comprehensive perspective and personal touch to health care.
Their high-quality care and counseling lower the cost of health care for patients. For example, patients who see NPs as their primary care provider often have fewer emergency room visits, shorter hospital stays, and lower medication costs.
We appreciate the fantastic NPs working in the Duke Orthopaedic Surgery Department.
Thank you!
