Despite the Omicron variant and COVID, the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting was still a great time. Though we missed many people and presentations due to the winter storm, and it was much chillier than we were expecting in San Antonio, Duke DPT had a great showing. Here are some highlights:
- 175 people attended the Duke Physical Therapy and Friends Reception
- 102 Duke representatives (including students, alumni, current and former faculty, clinicians, and graduates of the Duke PT and OT residencies and fellowships) contributed to 123 presentations delivered either live or on-demand
- 3rd-year student Mohammad Saad won the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy Outstanding Student Award–last year’s recipient was also recognized in-person, Rachel Meyer’s 21
- Dr. Jamie Greco was recognized for the grant she received from the APTA Academy of Education
- Zachary Stearns, Marissa Carvalho ‘12, and Trevor Lentz won The Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy’s 2021 George J. Davies—James A. Gould Excellence in Clinical Inquiry Award
- Dr. Chad Cook was part of the team that won The Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy’s 2021 JOSPT Guy G. Simoueau Excellence in Research Award
- 2 alumni were recognized for APTA Pediatrics Awards–Dora Gosselin ’05 received the APTA Pediatrics Dissertation Award and Kim Sondles Scott ’07 won the Jeanne Hughes Award
