This week, the Duke Pathway to Orthopaedic Mentorship (DPOM) Program hosted a successful "Research Pearls & Pitfalls" session.
The DPOM program was co-founded by Rafael Baker, MD, and is now under the leadership of Prince Boadi (MS3). The most important differentiator of this program is that students lead it, and it is for students, which makes the offerings authentic and relevant. Erica Taylor, MD, MBA, is the faculty advisor.
Feedback from a student attendee: "I needed to hear, “Do not be afraid to fail or else it holds you back. When I heard an attending physician say those words, I had something to hold onto moving forward."
Many thanks to Michael Bolognesi, MD; Anthony Catanzano, MD; Kevin Purcell, MD; and Julia Visgauss, MD, for their time and energy in creating a space for our students to connect and inquire about their research experiences and potential.
