"I enjoy making discoveries, translating basic science into clinical research, and helping people develop their careers."
What were your motivations for pursuing a career in research and science?
I have always been fascinated by the recovery of form and excellence after major setbacks/dysfunction or injury. My desire to contribute to rehabilitation led me to pursue Physical Therapy, which evolved into an interest in basic and clinical research. Professionally, I enjoy making discoveries, translating basic science into clinical research, and helping people develop their careers.
What excites you about your role at Duke?
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery comprises individuals with diverse backgrounds and areas of interest that are relevant to fostering interdisciplinary and innovative research. Joining the department is a privilege and a unique opportunity to expand my basic science studies and develop a clinical and translational research program that will significantly impact biomedicine and human health. I am also thrilled by the opportunity to work with departmental leadership toward developing a graduate program in rehabilitation and musculoskeletal sciences.
What brings you joy?
I enjoy reading (mainly non-fiction), playing sports (tennis and soccer), exploring the outdoors (cycling and hiking), and, above all, spending time with my wife and children.
