“I am excited to care for pediatric patients with complex problems and partner with my Duke Orthopaedic colleagues, who provide excellent patient care but also want to help drive improvements in our field overall.”
What were your motivations for pursuing a career in orthopaedics?
I came from a long line of MDs and knew from a young age that I would either be a doctor or a vet. I love helping improve quality of life, and as someone who loves to move, orthopaedics has a natural appeal. With pediatrics, we often begin with something that isn’t normal and make it better than it could have been without intervention. That real opportunity to change natural history is gratifying.
What excites you about your role at Duke?
I am excited to care for pediatric patients with complex problems and partner with my Duke Orthopaedic colleagues, who provide excellent patient care and want to help drive improvements in our field overall. I also love teaching and am looking forward to working with a diverse group of students, residents, and fellows. The research opportunities are appealing, and I have several questions regarding pediatric hip conditions and limb deformities that I plan to explore.
What brings you joy?
My longtime favorite hobby is horseback riding, and I still compete in show jumping. I also love kickboxing, running with my dogs, and reading.
