The Duke Orthopaedics Spine Division hosted dynamic lectures and labs with visiting professor Paul Huddleston, MD, from the Mayo Clinic last week.
Immersive activities included a journal club about Value-Based Spine Care, a Grand Rounds lecture about Spine Infections, and closed out with a spine lab. Dr. Huddleston brought a novel durotomy repair model with him for the experience. All the residents in attendance received hands-on experience with cadaveric anatomy and durotomy repair simulation.
Resident Christine Wu, MD remarked, "We appreciated the high level of engagement in the material with faculty members, Melissa Erickson, MD, Brett Rocos, MD, and William Richardson, MD, as well as from medical students to junior residents. It was an exceptional lab, and several residents told us it was one of the best labs we have ever had!"
