Speaker:

Matthew Provencher, MD, CAPT MC USNR (Ret.)
During his distinguished 40+ years at Duke University Medical Center, Dr. Garrett excelled as a physician, clinician-scientist, and educator. A specialist in sports medicine for three decades, he served as Medical Director of the U.S. Soccer Federation, Team Physician for the U.S. Men's and Women's National Soccer teams, and supported many Duke athletic teams. As a teacher, Dr. Garrett earned the Outstanding Teacher Award from both Duke and UNC Departments of Orthopaedics. He was honored with the Duke Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Master Orthopaedist Award and inducted posthumously into the AOSSM Hall of Fame. His contributions to research were recognized with prestigious awards, including the Kappa Delta Award (ORS), Citation Award (ACSM), Award of Merit (AOSSM), and multiple research excellence honors from AOSSM. This event celebrates Dr. Garrett's friendship, mentorship, and dedication to research and sports medicine. Join us for two days of discussions showcasing cutting-edge sports medicine research from faculty, fellows, and residents.
