At Duke Orthopaedics, expert surgical care and interdisciplinary collaboration come together to support patients through complex recoveries. assistant professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Christopher D. Murawski, MD, a specialist in foot and ankle procedures, led a recent case involving a ruptured Achilles tendon treated with minimally invasive surgery and biological augmentation using the patient’s own stem cells. A coordinated rehabilitation plan with Duke physical therapist, Yana I. Ginzburg, DPT, SCS, OCS, ensured a full return to activity.
“I’m a surgeon. I love to operate, but it’s our job to help you avoid surgery when we can,” said Murawski. “We talk about the pros and cons of each strategy and make the decision together.”
This approach reflects Duke’s commitment to personalized care, innovation, and teamwork.
