Neill Li, MD, has received two national honors from the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and its research foundation in recognition of his contributions to hand surgery research and education.
Li was awarded a 2026 Basic Science Grant from the American Foundation for Surgery of the Hand (AFSH) for his project, “Macrophage-Orchestrated Neuroma Microenvironment as a Driver of Neuropathic Pain.” The two-year grant will support research examining the role of the neuroma microenvironment in neuropathic pain.
In addition, Li received the Richard H. Gelberman Scholar Award, which supports a traveling fellowship in the United States and abroad. Through the fellowship, Li will study the use of nerve ultrasound for injury diagnosis and prognosis, collaborating with surgeons, neurologists and radiologists.
The awards recognize Li's ongoing efforts to advance research, education and innovation in hand and peripheral nerve care.
