Duke Ortho Students & Faculty Receive the J. Leonard Goldner Award from AOFAS

We congratulate Duke Orthopaedics medical students Aaron Therien (first author), Emily Luo, Kevin Wu, and Katherine Kutzer (co-authors), and associate professor Cesar de Cesar Netto, MD, on receiving the J. Leonard Goldner Award from the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS).

Aaron presented the study in collaboration with the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and Hospital Albert Einstein, São Paulo, Brazil, on “Semi-Automated 3D Distance Mapping of Conventional Non-Weightbearing CT Scan with External Rotation Stress Demonstrates High Diagnostic Accuracy for Subtle Syndesmotic Instability”.

The prestigious J. Leonard Goldner Award recognizes the outstanding basic science paper presented at the AOFAS Annual Meeting. The Program Committee selects nominated studies from blinded abstracts submitted for consideration for the scientific program. Established in 1998 with a gift from J. Leonard Goldner, MD, the award is presented to the senior author and includes a framed certificate and monetary award. 

They received the award at the AOFAS Annual Meeting held last week in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
