To meet growing demand and improve continuity of care, Duke Orthopaedics has launched a streamlined access initiative that enables patients to schedule appointments within 48 hours across 18 locations in the Triangle. New sites in Wake County offer evening and weekend hours, and centralized scheduling tools—including online self-scheduling—help match patients with the right specialists quickly and efficiently. The department has also expanded its provider team and introduced dedicated orthopaedic urgent care centers in Morrisville and Apex, offering accelerated pathways to subspecialty care.
These changes are designed to reduce wait times, improve continuity of care, and ensure that patients — whether they need urgent attention or subspecialty expertise — can be seen promptly and at a location convenient to them. According to Benjamin A. Alman, MD, chair of the Duke Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, the department’s goal is to make orthopaedic care more accessible without compromising quality: “We’re focused on providing access to world-class care to everyone who needs it.”
