Introducing New Generations to Orthopaedics – The Perry Initiative Event a Success

Last weekend, Duke Orthopaedics hosted students from Wake Forest University (WFU), the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and Duke University who are exploring careers in orthopaedics through the Perry Initiative.

The Perry Initiative runs over 50 one-day outreach programs nationwide, reaching over 13,000 high school, college, and medical students through over 450 outreach events.

The effort was co-chaired by Melissa Erickson, MD, associate professor of orthopaedic surgery, and Holly Pilson, MD (WFU).

"I was honored by the support and presence of two Duke School of Medicine department chairs, Ben Alman, MD, and Dr. Emory, and to have volunteer faculty and residents," shared Dr. Erickson.
