Patient Safety Awareness Week

Patient Safety Awareness Week, promoted by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, aims to encourage everyone to learn more about healthcare safety.

Patient safety is essential in all healthcare settings. Our department teams work seamlessly to keep our patients safe, and patient safety is a core component of all our education programs. We collaborate with our Duke healthcare partners in environmental services, the OR, pharmacy, labs, and rehabilitative spaces. We recognize the tremendous effort the residents, fellows, APPs, nurses, ATCs, PTs, OTs, physicians, CNAs, and others put into caring for our patients in all our healthcare settings.

Our Divisions and Department work hard to create a culture of transparency and quality improvement with robust reporting of complications and system issues in our patient safety conferences.

We appreciate your diligence and significant efforts to ensure our patients' safety and good health.

Together, we will continue to find the best ways to provide the care and treatment that is best suited for our patients and surrounding communities.

Please join us in promoting safety in all our healthcare settings.

Thank you for all you are already doing, and keep up the excellent work.

All the best,
Ben Alman, MD, and Alison Toth, MD
