Dr. Diehl is a Medical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery’s Division of Sports Medicine and Head Team Physician for Elon University. Dr. Diehl specializes in the surgical treatment of sports-related shoulder and knee injuries. He also takes an active role in the mission to educate university and medical students, Orthopaedic Surgery residents, and Orthopaedic and Primary Care Sports Medicine fellows. Dr. Diehl’s research interests are in the health of athletes at all levels, specifically overuse injuries and return to sport after surgery. He collaborates with biomechanists, physical therapists, and his surgical colleagues at the Duke main campus. Dr. Diehl treats patients and does research at the North Carolina Orthopaedic Clinic and the Davis Ambulatory Surgery Center.
