Dr. Lau is a sports medicine surgeon, specializing in injuries of the knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle/foot. Dr. Lau sees patients in the Duke Sports Science Institute, Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center, and Duke Arringdon Clinic and Operating Room. One of Dr. Lau's current research projects is investigating the Validation of 3D MRI for Glenoid and Humeral Bone Loss Assessment in Shoulder Instability. The goal of this study is to be able to accurately measuring bone loss with MRI to eliminate need for pre-operative CT scans in shoulder instability patients. We are also currently working on developing a quantitative MRI sequence to evaluate joint instability with a current focus on shoulder instability.
