Duke Orthopaedics Expands Access and Services Across Wake County

Duke Orthopaedics is growing to meet the needs of our communities—and our mission. With expanded locations now serving Wake County and the greater Triangle area, we’re increasing access to the high-quality, patient-centered care that defines our department. This growth reflects our shared commitment to innovation, collaboration, and leadership in orthopaedics across the region.

Clinic Expansions & New Services

We’ve recently added or expanded services at several locations:

  • Apex – Urgent Care services launching in July
  • Knightdale – Expanded provider coverage and digital front desk now live
  • Wake Forest, Cary, Morrisville – Continued growth in specialty care areas

These updates enable us to provide more convenient access to care in foot and ankle, total joint, shoulder, sports medicine, spine, and other specialties. Many locations now offer same-day and next-day appointments, with online scheduling available.

Cary Clinic Is Moving Up—Literally!

New Location: Suite 420, Duke Health Cary
Move Date: July 28, 2025

New name: Duke Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics Cary

The clinic is moving just three floors up—but the upgrade is big! The new space will double our exam rooms (from 8 to 16), and include: a dedicated cast room, a mini C-arm room, and an x-ray suite.

We’re also welcoming new team members, including a hip preservation surgeon, a second foot and ankle surgeon, a total joint specialist, a shoulder and sports surgeon, and APPs for hand and total joint care.

Digital Tools & Clinical Enhancements

We’re continuing to improve the patient and team experience with:

  • Digital Front Desk is now active at Arringdon, Apex, Cary, and Knightdale
  • Check-in Kiosk Pilot completed successfully
  • Urgent Care Reopenings at Duke Sports Sciences Institute (DSSI)
  • Extended Hours & Podiatry at North Carolina Orthopaedic Clinic
  • New Partnership: Central Carolina Foot and Ankle Associates has joined DHIP
  • Expanded Podiatry Services at Duke Regional Hospital

Looking Ahead: Virtual Urgent Care

We’re considering a Virtual Urgent Care option to assist patients outside of regular business hours. The goal is to connect patients with a live provider online who can help diagnose and escalate care when necessary, especially for existing patients.

Thank you for all that you do to support our patients and one another. If you have questions or suggestions for future updates, please don't hesitate to contact Ray Malaguti. View Locations Map.
