Sarah Jean Barton, ThD, MS, OTR/L, BCP, Assumes the Role of OTD Program Director

In an exciting development, Sarah Jean Barton, ThD, MS, OTR/L, BCP, will assume the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Program Director role starting July 1.

Dr. Barton will oversee the division's curriculum aspects, such as teaching assignments, course evaluation and semester review, curriculum committee, adjunct recruitment, peer teaching observations, and teaching support. Dr. Hooper will remain Division Chief, facilitating strategic initiatives such as student scholarships, continuing education development, program evaluation and quality improvement, equitable policy development, education grants, and faculty support.

The OTD division has proliferated into a complex and dynamic system. The current juncture provides a point of high potential. This new leadership structure will allow us to meet that potential with efficiency, innovation, and impact.

Dr. Barton looks forward to ongoing collaborations with students, staff, and faculty and is incredibly excited to build on the solid foundation of student leadership and partnership further in the Duke OTD program.
