Education & Training

At Duke Orthopaedics, our trainees benefit from a dynamic learning environment where education and patient care go hand in hand. Residents, fellows, athletic training, and medical students work closely with faculty who are deeply committed to mentorship and clinical excellence.

We prioritize hands-on experience, innovative research opportunities, and the development of advanced surgical skills. Our goal is to support each trainee in reaching their full potential—professionally, academically, and personally.

Residency

Our mission is to equip trainees with the clinical and surgical skills essential for practicing competently and ethically, whether in an academic or community setting while preparing them to lead in their chosen fields.

Fellowships

Our fellows undergo advanced training in orthopedic subspecialty surgery, gaining expertise in specific field areas to enhance their clinical and surgical capabilities.

Medical Student Sub-I

During this four-week sub-internship, students gain a comprehensive educational experience in orthopaaedic surgery, taking on duties and responsibilities akin to those of a first-year resident.
