Dr. Seyler joins exclusive global network of hip surgery leaders

Thorsten M. Seyler, MD, PhD, associate professor in the Division of Adult Reconstruction and director of the Adult Reconstruction Fellowship, has been elected to the prestigious International Hip Society. This esteemed honor is extended solely by invitation following a vote by current members.

The International Hip Society is composed of leading experts in hip surgery, education, and research from around the world. Its members are recognized for their outstanding contributions to advancing hip surgery, education, and cutting-edge research in the treatment of hip disorders. The Society plays a crucial role in promoting international collaboration, disseminating new advancements in hip surgery, and enhancing the global body of knowledge in this specialized field.

Membership in the Society is awarded based on exceptional achievements in hip surgery, academic excellence, and significant research contributions. "It is an absolute honor to be invited to join the International Hip Society, founded by pioneers of hip surgery such as John Charnley, Mark Coventry, Merle d’Aubigné, William Harris, Maurice Muller, Augusto Sarmiento, Frank Stinchfield, and Heinz Wagner," Dr. Seyler commented.

Admission to the International Hip Society is not by application but through a nomination process. To be considered, nominees must be proposed by two active members and supported by additional members from the nominee's country. Specific criteria include a significant dedication to hip surgery, a robust publication record, and recognition as a leading authority in the field, either nationally or internationally. Active membership is limited to 100 members, with those over the age of 65 transitioning to emeritus status.
