Andrew M. Schwartz, MD, has joined the Duke Adult Reconstruction Division as an assistant professor of Orthopaedic surgery. He returns home to Duke, having practiced and served as an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Iowa. He previously pursued a fellowship in adult reconstruction here at Duke after completing his residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and his medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. In addition to his clinical work, he remains focused on research in caring for hip and knee replacement patients. He has written over 60 publications and ten textbook chapters, winning multiple research awards.

Q: What brings personal and professional joy?
A: Personally, my wife and two dogs, Bengals and Buckeyes football. Professionally, giving people back their physical independence is a great privilege.
