The Duke University Health System pediatric inpatient team highlighted chief resident Patrick Kelly, MD, for being available and an active team member caring for a patient with pressure sores. He was receptive to the other team members and helped execute a plan and solution to improve the patient’s care. The nurses and staff also appreciated his willingness to participate in the daily huddles.
Anthony Catanzano, MD, assistant professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, shared, “We are very proud of the example Dr. Kelly set for these co-residents and the ortho team!”
Jonathan C. Routh, MD, MPH, FAAP, chief of Duke Center for Children’s Surgery, shared, "At a Tier 3 huddle last week, one of the orthopaedic residents, Dr. Patrick Kelly, was specifically highlighted for his very positive participation in a unit meeting to help a trauma patient with pressure sores. Even during a surge to efficiently discharge patients during and after Hurricane Debby, he still made the time to join the huddle. It’s a good experience for trainees to become involved in our hospital's grassroots quality operations."
Great job!
