At their annual meeting in September, Thorsten M. Seyler, MD PhD, was voted into the Hip Society, an academic by-invitation-only membership org of internationally recognized thought-leaders, innovators, mentors, researchers, and educators. Congratulations! With this accomplishment, the Division of Adult Reconstruction continues to be at the forefront of arthroplasty with members in both Hip and Knee Society (Drs. Bolognesi, Jiranek, Lachiewicz, Seyler), Hip Society (Kelley, Wellman), and Musculoskeletal Infection Society (Jiranek, Seyler).

Corey Simon is the recipient of The Paul B. Beeson Emerging Leaders Career Development Award in Aging (K76); a collaboration between The National Institute on Aging (NIA), the American Federation for Aging Research, and the John A. Hartford Foundation.

Congratulations to Trevor Lentz on receiving NIAMS funding for an R21 through a HEAL initiative call. The project is a collaboration with ATI Physical Therapy to evaluate predictors of health care use and outcomes following early access to PT for musculoskeletal pain.

The National Institute of Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health, recently awarded $30 million over five years to support research to test a novel physical rehabilitation program designed for older patients hospitalized for acute heart failure.

Farshid Guilak, the Mildred B. Simon Research Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and co-director of the Washington University Center for Regenerative Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine and professor of biomedical engineering and of mechanical engineering & materials science in the McKelvey School of Engineering, has been elected this year as a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), and the National Academy of Inventors (NAI).
