LAS VEGAS (March 9, 2023)—North Carolina orthopaedic surgeon Annunziato (Ned) Amendola, MD, FAAOS, FRCSC, DABOS, division chief for sports medicine at Duke University, was named second vice president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ (AAOS) Board of Directors.

Brett Rocos, MD, BSc (Hons), MB, ChB, earned his BSc in Physiology from the University of Bristol and later graduated with his MD.

Amy M. Pastva, PT, MA, PhD, and colleagues in the National Institute of Aging-funded multisite trial REHAB-HF published “Frailty and Effects of a Multidomain Physical Rehabilitation Intervention Among Older Patients Hospitalized for Acute Heart Failure: A Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial.”

Dr. Goertz and Dr. Lentz received a notice of award for their Feasibility Trial of a Novel Integrated Mindfulness and Acupuncture Program to Improve Outcomes after Spine Surgery (I-MASS) project.

Dr. Catanzano discussed his published collaborative article from the January 2023 issue of the Spine Deformity Journal titled, “Beware of open triradiate cartilage: 1 in 4 patients will lose > 10° of correction following posterior only fusion.”
