Dr. Blake Boggess, DO, FAOASM, FAMSSM, FAAFP recently became the President of American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine (AOASM). Over his two decades of membership in the academy, Dr. Boggess has been the Conference Chair, Lecturer, Moderator, Mentor, Program Chair, and Webinar Director and has directed ultrasound cadaver courses in many conference centers for the annual AOASM conference in various cities around the United States. He follows in the footsteps of Duke Head Medical Team Physician, Dr.

The Holly Springs Salamanders hosted an event to raise money to Strike Out Sarcoma on Friday, July 22 and to raise awareness about the 14th Annual Strikeout for Sarcoma 5k Run/Walk is Sunday, October 23rd, 2022! ​It was a great event!​  

True baseball fans can't help but see comparisons of hallowed baseball metrics to standards in their own work environments. For a baseball fan who is a physical therapist, even something as seemingly dissimilar as research has selected accomplishments that mirror those of baseball statistics.

91 students made the transition from the classroom to their clinical experiences on Thursday, June 9, 2022, as members of the Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2023 donned their white coats at the DPT White Coat ceremony.

During Steven Z. George’s introduction as the 2022 Branch Lecturer, it was shared that Dr. George had recently received the 2022 Marian Williams Award for Research in Physical Therapy by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Congratulations, Dr. George, on this outstanding recognition.

Congratulations to the DPT Class of 2022! Each year, all Duke DPT students are eligible to be considered for several graduation honors recognizing excellence in leadership, service, academics, clinical performance, and commitment to the program’s values.

Christopher Shaffrey, MD, chief of the Duke Spine Division, has received the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) Cushing Award for Technical Excellence and Innovation in Neurosurgery for 2022. The award was presented at the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting, held April 27-May 2, 2022 in Philadelphia. The Cushing Award honors an AANS member for technical prowess and skill and/or innovation in the development of new procedures that have become part of the arsenal a neurosurgeon uses to treat disease or trauma.
