
The following onboarding materials are designed to guide you through the research process at Duke and must be completed before you begin your research.

MyResearchPath is a comprehensive resource for all things related to research at Duke. Below is a checklist summarizing the key requirements to ensure you are fully prepared to proceed with your research.
1. CITI Training
a. Click the link above and select “LOG IN THROUGH MY ORGANIZATION.”
b. Enter ‘Duke Health’ in the search box and proceed to login.
i. Required Courses:
- Vulnerable Subjects – Research Involving Prisoners
- Vulnerable Subjects – Research Involving Children
- Vulnerable Subjects – Research Involving Pregnant Women, Fetuses, and Neonates
- Biomedical Research with GCP – Basic/Refresher
2. Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)
a. RCR 100:
i. It can be completed through CITI (Only ONE needs to be completed for credit. BASIC indicates basic science research).

- Humanities and Social Sciences RCR – Faculty

b. RCR 200:
i. Required for faculty and must attend a workshop once every 3 years.

3. Faculty PI Research Onboarding
a. Faculty intending to act as Principal Investigator (PI) on a study must complete onboarding within 90 days of their start date.
- Duke Research Onboarding: Information can be found here. Scroll down and click "contact the navigators" if onboarding did not occur with your start.
b. Department-Specific Onboarding: - Contact orthoresearch_help@duke.edu to set up.
4. Stewardship and Compliance for Research Investigators (SCRI)
a. Required for faculty on funded projects who have responsibilities to the funder.
b. Click here to access the 5 required SCRI modules.
5. LMS Modules
a. Click here to access Duke’s Learning Management System.
b. In the search box, enter the following module titles for completion:
- IRB Overview – DOCR (00148421)
- Responsibilities of the Principal Investigators Conducting Research – DOCR (00151084)
6. PACE Access (Required for Un-Consented PHI)

b. Step-by-Step Instructions:
Before making any PACE requests, the study team must:
- Have an approved IRB study
- Identify the need for the service (See Resources for guidance)
- Identify the appropriate fund code for PACE services (discuss with your PI)
- Complete PACE Training for Duke Employees and Affiliates (00131237) in LMS (link above)
The appropriate study team member will submit the PACE Requests intake form here upon completion.
The division administrative managers will confirm the fund code and submit the request through Core Research. After receiving the requisite number, the administrator will input the REQ number into the REDCap intake form.
Once complete, the PI and the requestor will receive an email with the requisite number for PACE requests on the website.

- Store extracted data in an approved location
- Request a New Project Folder on the Ortho Private Drive: Duke Service Now Request
